The ABA has published the 2024 Standard 509 disclosures for all law schools, including the final official LSAT/GPA data from the 2023-2024 admissions cycle (compiled with +/- from the prior cycle here). This means that we can now predict the upcoming 2025-2026 U.S. News law school rankings with a high degree of accuracy using their current methodology, which primarily relies on publicly available data.
However, the results this year—as in many years—are so tightly clustered that even extremely minor, unpublished calculation changes (e.g. changing how certain numbers are rounded) could result in a very different set of rankings, even using the same metrics and weights. So, we have decided to publish our predicted rankings in groups. Within each of the below clusters, the difference between one school coming out ahead, behind, or tied with the others will depend on small, largely arbitrary methodological decisions.
Important note: We never recommend that applicants use one-size-fits-all rankings as their primary driver for where to apply or where to attend law school. As discussed in our recent podcast episode on the 509 data with Kyle McEntee, we at Spivey Consulting think ordinal rankings, even using our customized rankings tool My Rank, may at best serve as a starting point for your law school research (and Kyle is averse to even that), but they should never be determinative.
Also note that if U.S. News introduces a new metric or meaningfully alters the weights of their current metrics this year, the rankings could look entirely different altogether.
