Below are our modeled Top 11 (due to a four-way tie at 8) 2025 U.S. News Rankings. Please note a few things:
- We only have 58% of the data (and the historical perspective that the assessment scores are very stable year-to-year)
- Historically, the Top 10 are pretty stable, though this year that may not be the case. It's because of this historic stability that we are putting the top 11 up and not the top 100. We're aware there's already a list of the top 100 modeled rankings out there, but it varies substantially from our current top 100.
- We will publish our modeled top 100 in December when the remaining data populates with 509 reports.
- This is all TBD, and our model won't be entirely precise, especially given that U.S. News can always change metric weights or methodology. For example, there is ample reason to believe U.S. News likes to keep Yale ranked at #1 and very well might make a slight metric or weight change to do so. In fact, we’d predict they will do just that (our model is simply following the current 58% data and not amending it with our instincts). We do project little methodological change this year, and at the undergraduate level we did not see any methodological change, which may be a first ever.
Our model with the complete data has proven to be incredibly precise. Last year, our model predicted 177 schools exactly where they landed, and the remaining were only off by +/-1. Assuming no methodological changes, our December modeled published rankings should be very close to the actual rankings that are published in March.
